Unidentified gunmen stormed the studio of Afghanistan's Shamshad TV channel in Kabul city and opened fire on 7 November, TOLO news reported.

As the attack unfolded, Shamshad TV, a Pashto language broadcaster, stopped normal programming, transmitting only a still image.

The attack began at around 10:45 AM Ambulances and security forces were rushed to the spot.

"I saw three attackers on security cameras entering the TV station building. They first shot the guard and then entered the building. They started throwing grenades and firing," said Shamshad TV reporter Faisal Zaland, who escaped through a back door.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid denied the militant group was involved in the attack in a Twitter post.

The attack is the latest in a series of assaults on Afghan journalists and media workers.
