Afghanistan blast: 20 killed in explosion outside mosque in Herat
At least 20 killed, 30 wounded in an explosion in front of Jawadia Mosque in Afghanistan's Herat city, reports TOLO news.
Herat officials have confirmed that the attack was carried out by two attackers.
According to officials, the first attacker detonated his explosives outside the mosque and then the second attacker opened fire in the worshippers inside the mosque.
However eyewitnesses said a number of wounded were also taken to private health facilities in Herat city.
Shiites are a minority in Afghanistan and have been threatened by the Islamic State affiliate that operates in the country's east. No one immediately took responsibility for the attack on the Jawadia Mosque in Herat.
