Afghan parliament attack: Six Taliban gunmen killed

Kabul, June 22: At least six gunmen who attacked parliament in Afghanistan on Monday have been killed, the interior ministry said.

According to reports, attackers detonated a huge car bomb outside the parliament building, before racing into it, BBC reported.

The parliament was evacuated soon after the attack.

The Taliban carried out the attack on parliament to coincide with a vote to endorse a new defence minister, Massoom Stanekzai.

Police officials among 18 were injured in the attack.

About two hours after the initial explosion, police declared the operation had ended with attackers being killed.
