5.1 magnitude quake hits Pakistan, No damage reported
Lahore, May 16: A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Pakistan on Friday, said a AFP report.

Officials stated that there were no reports of damage or casualties. Reportedly, the epicentre was close to the city of Sibi, in Balochistan province, at a depth of 71 kilometres, a meteorological official, Mahwish Ahmad said.

A week ago, one person was killed and 30 injured in a series of small tremors in southern Pakistan.

Pakistan is susceptible to earthquakes as it lies in the region where Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates meet.

In one of the biggest natural disasters in the country, a 7.6-magnitude earthquake shook Pakistan on October 8, 2005 killing more than 73,000 people and leaving about 3.5 million homeless.

Last September, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake devastated several areas in southwestern Balochistan province.
