Kuala Lumpur, Dec 29: The disappearance of AirAsia Flight QZ8501 marked the third tragedy for Malaysia this year after the loss of two aircraft of the country's national carrier in March and July and many have started wondering whether their nation is cursed, according to an AFP report. Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 disappeared soon after taking off from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing on March 8 and was never found again. The plane had 239 people on board. On July 17, Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down in the Donestk region of Ukraine allegedly by pro-Russia separatists, resulting in the death of all 298 people on board.
The AirAsian plane carrying 162 people disappeared early on Sunday after its pilots sought permission from the Indonesian air control traffic because of inclement weather. The plane was going from Surabaya in Indonesia to Singapore.
