27 Boko Haram militants killed in Nigeria military operations
Lagos, Dec 9: At least 27 Boko Haram fighters were killed in two separate operations by troops in northeastern Nigeria's states of Borno and Bauchi in a bid to rid the areas of insurgency, the country's defence headquarters said Tuesday.

Seven of the terrorists lost their lives during a hot pursuit around Hildi area of Adamawa state, the defence headquarters said in a terse statement, adding that 20 of them lost their lives during another special raid operation conducted on Balmo and Lame forests linking Borno, Bauchi and Adamawa states.
The statement said a total of five rifles, hundreds of rounds of ammunition as well as bows and arrows were captured from the terrorist in Adamawa, noting that troops also recovered rifles and a number of motorcycles after stiff resistance by terrorists was crushed.
At least six soldiers were wounded in the encounter, Xinhua cited defence spokesperson Chris Olukolade, who confirmed the incidents, as saying.
He said Nigerian troops have captured documents containing a list of communities about to be attacked and sketches of the towns from fleeing terrorists in Adamawa state.
Meanwhile, the campaign against terrorists' activities is continuing with air and land operations being conducted in various theatres in parts of the country.
