13 Soldiers Killed, 29 Injured In Suicide Car Bombing In Pakistan’s North Waziristan
At least 13 Pakistani soldiers lost their lives and 29 others, including civilians, were injured in a deadly suicide car bombing in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday, June 27, 2025. The attack occurred when a suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden vehicle into a military convoy. Among the wounded were 10 army personnel and 19 civilians, with four soldiers reported to be in critical condition. The force of the blast also led to the collapse of the roofs of two nearby houses, injuring six children.
The suicide bombing was claimed by the Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction, the suicide wing of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), underscoring the persistent threat from militant groups in Pakistan's northwestern border regions. The area has seen a surge in violence since the return of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Pakistan has consistently blamed the Afghan Taliban for allowing militants to use Afghan territory to stage cross-border attacks-an allegation Kabul continues to deny.

Since the beginning of 2025, the region has witnessed a sharp increase in militant activity, with around 290 people-primarily security personnel-killed in similar assaults across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The latest incident highlights the growing security concerns along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and the ongoing risk to both military forces and civilian populations.
Following the bombing, security forces launched an investigation and intensified surveillance in the region. The attack has drawn widespread condemnation and sparked renewed demands for stronger counter-terrorism strategies to protect lives and prevent further attacks.
