12 die in China construction site collapse

Beijing, April 13: At least 12 people were killed and two reported missing when a temporary structure on a construction site collapsed in China's Guangdong province on Wednesday.

An area of about 200 square metres was covered by the collapsed structure, which workers appear to have been using as a dormitory, Xinhua reported.

As many as 14 people were hospitalised, according to the information office.

An earlier statement said 69 people managed to escape when the structure collapsed.
