10 dead in Afghanistan house fire

Kabul, Aug 17: At least 10 members of a family died in a house fire in Afghanistan's Herat city on Monday, an official said.

The dead include four women, three men and three children.

"The initial information showed that the victims were suffocated following a gas leakage at the house overnight," Mohammad Raffiq, spokesman of Herat regional hospital where the bodies were shifted, told Xinhua.

According to the rescuers, the fire completely destroyed the house.
