G42 and Vietnamese partners agree to develop national AI and cloud infrastructure

Abu Dhabi technology group G42 has signed a framework agreement with FPT Corporation and Viet Thai Group to develop national artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure in Vietnam. Supported by commitments of up to USD 1 billion, the initiative focuses on building data centres and sovereign digital capabilities to support public and private sector growth.

Abu Dhabi-based technology group G42 has signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement with a Vietnamese consortium consisting of FPT Corporation and Viet Thai Group to build sovereign artificial intelligence capabilities and advanced cloud infrastructure across Vietnam. The initiative is intended to support Vietnam’s ambition to evolve into an AI-native society and to position the country as a leading artificial intelligence hub in Southeast Asia, while ensuring data sovereignty and enhancing national digital resilience. The agreement was signed in Ho Chi Minh City and establishes a comprehensive partnership framework, including legal, financial, and regulatory structures required for nationwide deployment of AI and cloud services.

The partners praised the Government of Vietnam for its forward-looking regulatory approach, which enables hyperscale data centre development and public cloud adoption, strengthening Vietnam’s position as a regional leader in AI infrastructure. Supported by consumption commitments of up to US$1 billion, the partnership represents a significant milestone in Vietnam’s digital transformation journey. The collaboration brings together the technical expertise of FPT Corporation, the strategic capabilities of Viet Thai Group, and G42’s advanced AI infrastructure experience.

Under the agreement, G42 and the consortium will deploy substantial cloud capacity across three data centre locations in Vietnam, delivering high-performance AI and cloud services to support public sector institutions and private enterprises. The initiative aligns with G42’s broader vision of building a global Intelligence Grid that connects AI infrastructure, cloud platforms, and governance frameworks while respecting national sovereignty.

Through this foundation, Vietnam will be able to develop national AI initiatives, digitise services, and deploy AI-powered solutions aligned with its strategic priorities. Ali Al Amine, Chief Commercial Officer of G42 International, said the agreement represents a new model for national AI transformation built on partnership, purpose, and sovereignty, expressing appreciation for the Vietnamese government’s leadership and the commitment of local partners. Dr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Corporation, emphasised the importance of strategic alliances in areas such as AI, semiconductors, cloud computing, big data, and cybersecurity, noting that trust and cooperation are essential to turning commitments into tangible results.

David Thai, Chairman and CEO of Viet Thai Group, said the initiative positions Vietnam at the forefront of AI-driven economic development in Asia and provides a long-term infrastructure foundation for innovation across multiple sectors. Beyond infrastructure development, the partnership includes plans for national AI skills and workforce development programmes to support AI adoption across government, industry, and academia. Following the signing, the consortium and G42 will proceed to the next phase of implementation, including securing regulatory approvals, finalising workload distribution, and commencing development of data centre sites. The project is expected to generate significant economic impact through infrastructure investment and job creation.
