PM Modi's ambitious 'housing for all' vision: What has been done so far?
New Delhi, Oct 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set an ambitious goal for his government of building 20 million affordable houses by 2022. The Modi led government has launched several initiatives to achieve this. PM Modi keeps talking about it in his rallies. Lets have a look what exactly has been done so far:

Government of India approved 51 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in last 3 years Out of which 28 houses grounded and in various stages of completion. Further over 8 lakh houses have already been completed and nearly 8 lakh houses have been occupied by the beneficiaries. In addition to this Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has approved the construction of 6,26,488 more affordable houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana last month to give the maximum benefits to the middle class families.
If you talk about the states, people from Uttar Pradesh have got maximum benefits. UP been sanctioned 2,34,879 houses while the sanction for Andhra Prades has sanctioned 1,40,559 affordable houses. With the above proposed houses, cumulative approvals under PMAY (U) have become 60,28,608 after final approval from CSMC.
The number of houses sanctioned for Madhya Pradesh is 74,631, Bihar 50,017, Chattisgarh 30,371 and Gujarat 29,185 houses. Maharashtra has been sanctioned 22,265 houses and Tamil Nadu 20,794 houses. Approvals given for Odisha stands at 13,421 houses, Tripura 9,778 and Manipur has been sanctioned 2,588 houses.
Considering the grim situation due to heavy flood in Kerala, the Ministry has advised the state Government to submit new proposal for construction of houses under PMAY(U). These would include flood affected persons/ households who are eligible under PMAY(U). Rs. 486.87 Cr is already sanctioned for Kerala.
Apart from this Central Government has approved of its implementation
