Shivraj Singh Chouhan Shows Strict Side, Says Rape Convicts Should Be Hanged Till Death

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed deep sorrow over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. He emphasised that those responsible should face the death penalty. Chouhan highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made provisions for such severe punishments to protect innocent daughters.

Chouhan reiterated PM Modi's stance, stating, "Such criminals will not be spared. Anyone who molests our daughters will face the death penalty." He noted that PM Modi has directed all states to ensure the harshest punishment for offenders. The central government, according to Chouhan, is committed to leaving no stone unturned in this matter.

Kolkata Rape-Murder Case Developments

The semi-naked body of the trainee doctor was discovered at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. Investigations revealed she had been raped and murdered during the night. The Kolkata Police arrested Sanjay Roy, who confessed to the crime during interrogation. The case was later handed over to the CBI following an order from the Calcutta High Court.

Former Principal of RG Kar Medical College, Sandip Ghosh, is also under scrutiny. Doctors have gone on strike due to safety concerns, prompting the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of the issue. A committee will be formed to address doctors' demands and recommend measures for their safety once the CBI completes its investigation.

During interrogation, Roy narrated the entire incident, leading investigators to seek additional tests like polygraphy to uncover more details. The severity of the crime has prompted a thorough investigation by multiple agencies.

The trial for punishing the accused will commence after the CBI concludes its investigation. This case has sparked widespread outrage and calls for stringent measures to ensure justice and prevent such incidents in the future.

The Union Minister's remarks reflect a broader call for justice and stringent action against those committing heinous crimes against women. The government's commitment to ensuring safety and justice remains unwavering as investigations continue.
