Zubeen Garg's Wife Garima Welcomes SIT Chargesheet and Seeks Swift Justice

Garima Garg has welcomed the SIT chargesheet naming four individuals in connection with her husband Zubeen Garg's murder. She urges a smooth judicial process and swift punishment for the guilty, reflecting public sentiment in Assam.

Garima, the wife of Zubeen Garg, expressed her approval of the chargesheet filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday. The chargesheet names four individuals in connection with the singer's murder. The investigation was initiated following an FIR lodged by the family against the accused. Garima conveyed gratitude to the investigating agency, stating that the probe proceeded as anticipated.

Garima highlighted that the investigation's findings align with public expectations. She remarked, "Now everything depends on the judicial process, which we hope will move smoothly." She expressed confidence in India's judiciary and emphasised the desire for appropriate punishment for those found guilty. Garima also mentioned that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma suggested requesting a fast-track court from the Chief Justice.

Charges Against Accused

The SIT has charged four individuals, including Zubeen Garg's secretary Siddhartha Sharma and festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, with murder. The chargesheet was submitted to a court on Friday. Additionally, band members Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta face murder charges. Shyamkanu Mahanta organised the North East India Festival, which Garg attended in Singapore.

Zubeen Garg tragically died under mysterious circumstances while swimming in the sea on September 19 during his visit to Singapore for the festival. The singer's two personal security officers (PSOs), Nandeswar Bora and Prabin Baishya, have been charged with criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust for misappropriating funds or property entrusted to them.

Community's Reaction

Garima shared that their household is devastated by Zubeen Garg's death, and people are deeply disturbed by his loss. She stated that all of Assam desires justice for Zubeen Garg. She reiterated their faith in both the investigation and judiciary, emphasising their hope for a swift resolution to the case.

Regarding international involvement, Garima noted that Singaporean authorities participated in investigations based on the family's FIR. She expressed complete trust in both the investigation process and judicial system. The family remains hopeful for a timely resolution through legal proceedings.

The case has garnered significant attention due to Zubeen Garg's prominence and the mysterious nature of his death. The community eagerly awaits justice, hoping for a fair trial and appropriate punishment for those responsible.
