Zubeen Garg CPR Video Surfaces from Singapore After Singer’s Death

Days after Assamese singer Zubeen Garg's last rites were held near Guwahati, a video has emerged showing the singer receiving CPR in Singapore. Garg, who passed away on September 19, was visiting the city for the Northeast India Festival (NEIF). The footage shows medical professionals attempting to revive him inside an ambulance.

Guwahati-based media owner Sanjive Narain, present in Singapore during Garg's demise, described witnessing the scene. "By the time I reached, Zubeen had already been moved into an ambulance. I saw him receiving CPR inside. It was a deeply shocking sight," Narain said.

Investigation and Official Reactions

Narain clarified that he was in Singapore for a book launch on Bhupen Hazarika, unrelated to NEIF, and denied being on the yacht with Garg at the time. His statement comes amid over 50 FIRs filed across Assam against him and others connected to the festival.

The FIRs were lodged against North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Zubeen Garg's manager Sidharth Sharma, drummer Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, and businessman Sanjive Naraine. The complaints allege their possible involvement in the death of the singer.

The Assam government has responded by banning NEIF organiser Syamkanu Mahanta and associated organisations from holding events in the state. Chief Minister Himanta Sarma also plans to request that the Centre refrain from providing financial support or sponsorship to Mahanta.

Details of Zubeen Garg's Death

Zubeen Garg passed away while swimming in Singapore, a day before his scheduled NEIF performance. The Singapore hospital death certificate cites drowning as the cause of death. A second post-mortem in Guwahati may provide further insights, but the results are still pending.

Meanwhile, the exact timeline of the video is not yet clear.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established to investigate Garg's untimely passing. Meanwhile, Congress has demanded a CBI inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death.
