Zika Virus alert: Karnataka Government set up screening at airports
Bengaluru, Feb 4: With the increasing cases of Zika virus patients globally, Karnataka government is also taking all steps to set up screening process at Bengaluru and Mangaluru airports.
"We will take all initiatives to control vector-control activities in all the districts of Karnataka," Health minister U T Khadar said.

Talking about the awareness programmes, Prakash Kumar, Nodal officer, Rajiv Gandhi Institute Health Science, said "We are also looking up at all awareness programmes related to mosquito growth in the city municipality and also related to waste disposal centre."
A meeting is being conducted in which authority had directed about the strict screening process at the airports to prevent the virus from entering the city.
Awareness about Dengue
"We have also directed all health workers to spread awareness among pregnant ladies about dengue as it is more deadly disease than Zika virus. We have already received more than 85 cases of dengue since January, " Prakash Kumar said.
