Nothing wrong in shooting Chandrababu Naidu dead, says YSR Chief Jagan

The Nandyal bypoll has turned into a battle of prestige for the TDP and the YSR Congress party

The Kurnool police have registered a case against YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy for inflammatory speech against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Earlier in the day, Jagan had said that there was nothing wrong in shooting dead Naidu.

Addressing an election rally in Nandyal where a bypoll has been scheduled, the YSR Congress party chief said that Chandrababu Naidu was hoodwinking the voters. "Chandrababu Naidu's theatrics to gain sympathy in Nandyal makes me believe that it is not wrong to shoot him dead in public. People of Nandyal should decide what punishment they want to give him," said Jagan Mohan Reddy.

TDP leaders took stiff opposition to Reddy's statement and filed a complaint with the Kurnool SP. "It is unbecoming of Jagan to incite violence against the Chief Minister. For someone who aspires to become the Chief Minister, Jagan should learn to respect the post. We have demanded stringent action against him. If this is how he speaks before the elections, imagine what he will turn Nandyal into if he wins, " said Rajashekhar, District President of the TDP.

The YSR party, however, rubbished TDP's claims. Despite visual proof of Jagan's statement from the public rally, YSR Congress spokesperson maintained that he did not say that he would shoot Chandrababu Naidu. Jagan has been booked for inciting violence against the Chief Minister.
