TDP Claims YS Jagan Spent Rs 500 Crore Public Money on Vizag Mansion

In a recent development that has stirred controversy in Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has accused YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of misusing public funds to construct a luxurious mansion worth Rs 500 crore. The mansion, located on the scenic Rushikonda hill in Visakhapatnam, is said to feature extravagant amenities, sparking a heated debate between the two political factions.

The TDP's allegations came to light following a post on X (formerly Twitter), where they shared images of the opulent building, criticizing Reddy for the lavish expenditure of government money. The party's Bheemili MLA, G Srinivasa Rao, along with journalists and a group of people, visited the mansion, further fueling the controversy with claims of the house being equipped with royal materials and extravagant features such as 200 chandeliers, each costing up to Rs 15 lakh, and an interior design bill amounting to Rs 33 crore.

However, the YSRCP has refuted these claims, with former industries minister G Amarnath defending the stance that the mansion is government property. Amarnath criticized the TDP for misrepresenting the situation and suggested that such properties should be utilized for official purposes by dignitaries like the President or Governor instead of being projected as personal assets of Reddy.

The dispute highlights ongoing tensions between the TDP and YSRCP, with both parties standing firm on their respective positions regarding the ownership and use of the mansion. The TDP's allegations have raised questions about the use of public funds and governance priorities in Andhra Pradesh, while the YSRCP's defense points to a potential misunderstanding or misrepresentation of facts. As this political drama unfolds, it remains to be seen how this controversy will impact the political landscape in Andhra Pradesh ahead of future elections.

Notably, Jagan Mohan Reddy had previously expressed intentions to move to Visakhapatnam and operate from there before being ousted in the 2024 polls. However, these plans did not materialize as expected. The current debate over the mansion adds another layer to the complex political narrative in Andhra Pradesh, with implications for both parties involved.
