Diabetes research: Dr Jitendra Singh urges young doctors to improve patient care at MVCON 2026

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dr Jitendra Singh called on young medical professionals to strengthen diabetes research and patient care at MVCON 2026, hosted by MV Hospital for Diabetes in Tamil Nadu. He received the MV Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 for his contributions. The conference included workshops on debridement, wound care, and diabetic foot management.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh urged young medical professionals to add to diabetes research. Dr Jitendra Singh also asked them to strengthen patient care for people with diabetes. The remarks came during MVCON 2026, a three-day national conference hosted by MV Hospital for Diabetes.

MV Hospital for Diabetes presented Dr Jitendra Singh with the MV Lifetime Achievement Award 2026. The award cited Dr Jitendra Singh’s contributions to diabetes research. Dr Jitendra Singh is Minister of State with independent charge for Science and Technology, and Earth Sciences.

MVCON 2026 diabetes conference draws wide participation

More than 1,000 participants attended MVCON 2026, including doctors and other healthcare professionals. Researchers in diabetes care also joined the event. The conference included specialists focused on diabetic foot and wound management, reflecting a strong emphasis on preventing avoidable complications.

Several experts in diabetes care, research, and clinical practice took part in the programme. Workshops were also held during the conference. Sessions included practical training in debridement and advanced wound care techniques, among other topics, according to the release.

MVCON 2026 diabetes platform focuses on multidisciplinary care

MV Hospital for Diabetes Chief Executive Officer Dr Viswanathan Vishnu Vijay explained the event’s purpose and scope. "MVCON 2026 marks the first edition of MVs annual scientific update. It has been conceptualised as a multidisciplinary platform that reflects the evolving nature of diabetes care. By bringing together different specialities, we aim to improve outcomes, particularly in preventing complications such as diabetic foot, which require coordinated and timely intervention,\" Dr Viswanathan Vishnu Vijay said.

In comments quoted in the release, Dr Jitendra Singh linked the award to long-standing ties with the state. Dr Jitendra Singh said Dr Jitendra Singh feels deeply indebted to Tamil Nadu. Dr Jitendra Singh also said Dr Jitendra Singh is extremely honoured to receive the MV Lifetime Achievement Award 2026.

The release said Dr Jitendra Singh used the occasion to encourage early-career doctors. Dr Jitendra Singh urged young professionals to help improve research progress. Dr Jitendra Singh also asked them to support better patient care, especially for people living with diabetes.
