Yogi Adityanath Celebrates Unity Among Indian Hockey Players

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed pride in all hockey players, regardless of their state, emphasising that each athlete represents India as a whole. He made these remarks during an interaction with Hockey India officials at his official residence on the eve of the 14th Hockey India Congress.

Adityanath Praises Indian Hockey Team

Importance of Hosting the Congress

Welcoming the Hockey India officials, Adityanath highlighted the significance of hosting the 14th Hockey India Congress in Uttar Pradesh. He stressed that every player is first an Indian and represents the entire nation. "We feel proud of every player, no matter which state he is from. The player is first of all an Indian and he represents the whole country," he said.

The Chief Minister urged Hockey India officials to prepare a world-class hockey team for the country. He insisted on providing top-notch facilities to players and fostering a sense of belonging among them. "The best facilities should be provided to the players. We have to create a sense of belongingness in the minds of the players," he added.

State Government's Support

Adityanath assured that the state government is committed to supporting Hockey India's efforts to encourage players. He suggested collaboration between Hockey India and the state's sports department to explore building hockey stadiums in various districts. According to him, "The Hockey India should work with the state's sports department on the possibilities of building hockey stadiums in various districts."

He also mentioned that hockey holds a special place in India's heart as its national game. "Hockey is the national game of India. Therefore, every Indian has an affinity towards hockey and a sense of respect for hockey players and people associated with Hockey India," he stated.

Historical Significance

Adityanath recalled Uttar Pradesh's significant contribution to Indian hockey, noting that Major Dhyanchand, a legendary figure in hockey, was born in the state. He also presented ODOP (One District-One Product) items to the officials of Hockey India, showcasing local products from various districts.

The Chief Minister's remarks underline his commitment to promoting hockey and supporting athletes across the country. His emphasis on unity and national representation reflects his vision for Indian sports on a global stage.
