Yogi Adityanath makes yoga compulsory in state-run schools

The Yogi Adityanath administration in Uttar Pradesh has made yoga compulsory in all government schools across the state. Directives have been sent to the state's education department to make Yoga as well as self-defence training for girls in all state-run schools mandatory. The decision is said to have taken place in the meeting chaired by Yogi Adityanath with officials of the education department earlier this week.

The move was a much-anticipated one and has now been officially announced by the state government. Yoga will now be part of physical education classes in all state-run schools across Uttar Pradesh. Sports and physical education teachers will engage students in practice of Yoga. A self-defense program for girls under the name, 'Rani Laxmibai Aatmaraskha Kaaryakram', will also be implemented according to the Chief Minister's decision.
