Gandhi's assertion that those identifying as Hindus are perpetually engaged in violence and hate sparked significant uproar among members of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Parliament. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also condemned Gandhi's behaviour during the session, highlighting his repeated turning away from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, a breach of parliamentary etiquette, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Rijiju emphasized the government's expectation of more responsible conduct from Gandhi, given his prominent parliamentary position. Further controversy arose when Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw accused Rahul Gandhi of spreading misinformation about the Agniveer Scheme, alleging that Gandhi falsely claimed martyrs would not receive compensation under the initiative.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh promptly refuted this claim, clarifying that martyrs under the Agniveer Scheme are indeed entitled to substantial compensation, as reported by Hindustan Times. Echoing these sentiments, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi criticized the Congress party for what he characterized as an underlying anti-Hindu sentiment.

He argued that Gandhi's remarks in Parliament exemplified this bias and condemned it as detrimental to social harmony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi intervened during the debate, expressing concern over Gandhi's characterization of Hindus as prone to violence, as per media reports.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanded an apology from Gandhi for his controversial remarks, further intensifying the political standoff. In defence of Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra asserted that her brother's remarks were aimed specifically at the BJP leadership and were not intended as a general insult to Hindus. This explanation attempted to clarify the context behind Gandhi's statements amidst mounting criticism and political tension in Parliament.
