Yogi Adityanath Addresses Bareilly Unrest And Emphasises Peace In Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed recent unrest in Bareilly, emphasising his government's firm stance against rioters. "For such anti-social elements who were getting a free run, we have brought in the bulldozer. Our government uprooted mafia rule and put the State on the path of development," he stated. This approach, he believes, has paved the way for peace and progress in the state.

Following violent clashes between demonstrators and police in Bareilly on September 26, 2025, Adityanath criticised Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan. The cleric had called for protests against police actions during an Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi procession in Kanpur earlier that month. The Chief Minister remarked that the cleric seemed to forget which government was in power.

Firm Action Against Rioters

The Chief Minister highlighted his administration's decisive measures since 2017 to curb riots. He asserted that this strict approach has ushered in a new era of peace and security in Uttar Pradesh, laying the foundation for the State's development story. Adityanath's comments came during a function held in Lucknow.

In response to these events, police arrested Tauqeer Raza Khan and seven others involved in the Bareilly clashes. The protests were sparked by actions against individuals displaying "I Love Muhammed" posters during a religious procession. Adityanath assured that no roadblocks or curfews would be imposed as a result of these incidents.

Political Dynamics and Public Sentiment

Mr. Adityanath criticised previous administrations for their leniency towards rioters and anti-social elements. He accused past leaders of allowing mafias to operate unchecked, compromising public safety and governance integrity. According to him, this created an environment where neither daughters nor traders nor farmers felt secure.

In Lucknow, posters proclaiming 'I Love Adityanath’ and 'I Love Bulldozer’ appeared following the Bareilly clashes. These were put up by BJP Yuva Morcha Lucknow general secretary Amit Tripathi as a counter-response to the 'I Love Muhammad’ campaign that had led to unrest.

The Chief Minister attributed Uttar Pradesh's challenges not to its inherent nature but to dynasty politics, casteism, and flawed mentalities. He argued that these factors contributed significantly to making U.P. appear as a 'BIMARU' state over time.

Adityanath reiterated his commitment to transforming Uttar Pradesh through decisive action against those disrupting peace and order. His administration aims to ensure long-term stability and growth by addressing systemic issues head-on.
