YEIDA's urban development plan in Agra a major boost to job sector
YEIDA has roped in Ernst and Young to conduct a survey on the economically feasible development options in the area. It has been asked to complete the survey and file a detailed report within three months.
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), which has turned into a boon for the people of Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring regions, is likely to come up with another plan for urban development on at least 12,000 hectare of land in Agra district along the expressway.
The move is in line with its objective of generating more and more employment and bringing in all-round development in the region. YEIDA has already formulated a plan for urban development in five other districts - Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras and Mathura - in the State.

The authorities have hired a private agency Ernst and Young Global Limited (E&Y) to conduct a survey on the economically feasible development options in the area. The agency is tasked to complete the survey and file a detailed report within three months.
Speaking on the project, YEIDA Chief Executive Arun Vir Singh said, "We will draw up a development plan as soon as the agency submits its report. Once the survey is over, we will have an idea on how the area can be developed and what needs to be done to boost tourism and industry in the region."
Significantly, the region is close to the historical edifice Taj Mahal, which is a huge tourist spot. The architecture of this breathtaking monument has attracted tourists from all around the globe every year irrespective of the season.
YEIDA aims to prepare the urban development plan well in advance to felicitate the region. The authority has already drawn up urban development activities for around 24,000 hectare of land located in Aligarh, Mathura and Hathras districts.
A vision for the future
The new urban development project in Agra promises to provide a vision for the future of a city or urban area. It outlines goals and objectives for the development of the area and provides a roadmap for achieving those goals, making it a better place to live.
Promoting sustainable growth
The project will promote sustainable growth while ensuring that development is in line with environmental and social considerations. It will be planned in such a way that it negates the negative impacts on the environment and ensures that development is socially inclusive.
Improving quality of life
The Agra Development Plan as envisioned by Chief Minister Yogi Adithyanath plans to improve the quality of life for residents by ensuring that the built environment is designed to meet their needs. This can include provisions for affordable housing, public transportation, green spaces and other amenities that improve quality of life.
Facilitating investment
The project will also help Agra to attract investment by providing a clear and predictable framework for development. This can help create a more favourable environment for investment and promote economic growth in the whole region.
