YEIDA plans Metro corridors to ease travel blues along Yamuna Expressway

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is preparing a comprehensive project for the proposed metro train link between New Delhi Railway Station and Greater Noida.

The proposed metro line from Knowledge Park-2 to Jewar airport will cost Rs 5,329 crore. The rail line will be 37 km long with 11 stations and parallel to the Yamuna Expressway. This will ease the commute for those who travel from Yamuna city to Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi.

The proposed rail link is part of the Uttar Pradesh government's plan to provide last-mile metro connectivity to the Noida International Airport coming up in Jewar, according to a PTI report. Of the 37-km distance, 3 km will be underground and 34 km will be elevated and the distance will be covered in an estimated one-hour time.

There will be two metro rail stretches - one between Noida Airport and Knowledge Park in Greater Noida and the other from Knowledge Park to New Delhi Railway Station. From New Delhi Railway Station, there is already a connecting link 'Airport Express' to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, New Delhi.

YEIDA has asked DMRC to submit the complete DPR by tomorrow (March 31, 2023). The DMRC officials have told YEIDA that the proposed metro route between the Jewar airport and the IGI Airport can be connected via the New Delhi Railway Station, according to the report.

Work is underway for the Noida International Airport in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh.
