A day before his hanging, Yakub Memon files for fresh mercy plea

Mumbai, July 29: Just a day before his execution date, Yakub Memon has filed a fresh mercy petition with the President.

The Supreme Court today began a hearing on the plea of Yakub Memon seeking stay on his execution.

Memon is scheduled to be hanged tomorrow, July 30 unless the SC puts a stay on his execution.

Suspense mounted on Tuesday, July 28 over the fate of Memon with the Supreme Court setting up a three-judge bench to decide his fate hours after a two-judge bench was split on his plea seeking stay of his execution scheduled on July 30.
