Yakub Memon hanged: Nagpur jail inmates kept fast for him
Nagpur, July 30: 1993 blasts convict Yakub Memon has been hanged at Nagpur jail on Thursday, July 30.
Yakub Memon, according to sources, was popular among the jail inmates at Nagpur jail. Earlier many prisoners had kept a fast for Yakub during Ramzan.

The TADA court had fixed July 30 as the date of hanging. Memon's lawyers had petitioned the Supreme Court of India at midnight seeking a stay on the execution.
Doctors at 7:01 am declared Yakub Memon dead. Body has been taken for postmortem. Family members reached Nagpur jail to claim the body.
Security was tightened around Nagpur jail on Wednesday. Section 144 has been issued. Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh were on high alert over Yakub's execution.
