Wrestler Bajrang Punia Stands in Solidarity with Farmers, Calls for MSP Support

Renowned wrestler Bajrang Punia extended his support to the farmers holding a mahapanchayat demanding the minimum support price (MSP) for crops as he arrived at Kurukshetra's Pipli mandi in Haryana on Monday.

Addressing the farmers, Punia raised question about the deserving compensation for their tireless efforts and hard-earned produce. Drawing upon his own farming background, he said that the importance of securing MSP for their crops and urged the government to fulfill this crucial demand.

''We have come here to support the farmers. Even we come from farmer families. We will stand with the farmers who are standing on the roads. We have supported farmers even during the farmers' protest and we will keep supporting them,'' he said.

Punia didn't shy away from highlighting the perceived failures of the government in handling similar situations, citing the case of Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni. Referring to the controversial Lakhimpur Kheri incident, where farmers were tragically mowed down by vehicles allegedly from Teni's convoy, Punia expressed disappointment at the lack of decisive action taken against him. This incident serves as a backdrop to the current demand for accountability from Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the Wrestling Federation of India chief and BJP MP.

Taking to social media, Punia reiterated his support for the farming community, emphasizing their right to MSP. He underlined the immense contributions of farmers who toil relentlessly throughout the year to feed the nation and questioned the fairness of denying them just compensation for their hard work.

Punia's involvement in the farmers' movement adds to the collective voice of prominent wrestlers including Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat. Together, they have been actively advocating for the removal and arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, alleging instances of sexual harassment. Their unwavering dedication to the cause underscores the significance of addressing these serious allegations within the wrestling community.
