Women's Day 2025: Meet Tanushka Singh, Fighter Pilot Set To Join IAF's Jaguar Squadron

Tanushka Sets a Record

The Jaguar is a powerful strike aircraft of the Indian Air Force, renowned for its precision attack capabilities. While other female pilots have previously flown the Jaguar jet, Tanushka's permanent appointment makes her the first to achieve this distinction. This historic record is now in the name of Flying Officer Tanushka Singh.

Tanushka Comes from a Military Background

Belonging to a military family, both Tanushka's father and grandfather have served in the Indian Armed Forces. Born in Uttar Pradesh, she has been residing in Mangaluru since 2007. She completed her schooling in Suratkal and pursued further studies in Mangaluru. In 2022, she earned a B.Tech degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from MIT, Manipal.

A Childhood Dream to Become a Pilot

Since childhood, Tanushka aspired to serve in the armed forces. After undergoing rigorous training at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal (Tamil Nadu), she was commissioned as an officer and underwent a year of pilot training on the Hawk Mk 132 aircraft. Now, she is set to join the Jaguar squadron soon.
