Barsana (Uttar Pradesh), March 7: The traditional Lathmar Holi began in Barsana village, as couples celebrated the colourful festival with utmost zeal amid tight security put in place by district authorities.
The annual event, said to be observed for last 5000 years is celebrated with enthusiasm and historical pride. Celebrated in the villages a few days before Holi, 'Lathmar' means 'playing with sticks'. Here are some images from the event:
