Woman Tortured for Two Days as Witch by Exorcist in Rajasthan's Bundi District
A woman in Rajasthan's Bundi district endured severe abuse after being accused of witchcraft by a self-proclaimed exorcist and his aides. The 50-year-old, Nandubai Meena from Shahapura district, was tied to a tree, had her hair cut, face blackened, and was tortured with a hot iron rod for two days. This incident occurred at a local deity's worship site near Gudagokulpura village, according to police reports.

The alleged abuse aimed to rid Meena of an evil spirit believed to have harmed her niece, who is married in the village. Upon receiving information, police rescued Meena and filed a case against Babulal, the exorcist, and his two aides based on her statement. However, Meena's family claimed the incident happened earlier and reported it on November 27 without immediate police action.
Police Investigation and Family Claims
The family also shared a video clip showing the alleged torture by locals under the guise of a deity's influence. Deputy Superintendent of Police Hindoli Circle Ajit Meghwanshi stated that Meena reported the incident on November 27 before returning home. While police sought her statement, her family released the video to local media, prompting further investigation.
Following this revelation, authorities located Meena and conducted a medical examination. A case was officially registered on Friday evening, leading to Babulal's detention for questioning. Police are actively pursuing the other suspects involved in this case.
Efforts continue to apprehend all individuals implicated in this disturbing event. The police are committed to ensuring justice for Meena and addressing any lapses in their initial response to the family's report.
