Delhi Hotel Incident: Woman Alleges Assault by Bouncers, Police Probe Underway

A distressing incident unfolded at a prestigious 5-star hotel in the national capital, where a woman was allegedly subjected to physical assault and molestation by the establishment's bouncers. The episode, which has sparked outrage and concern, came to light on Tuesday, prompting immediate police action.

Authorities were alerted to the situation early in the morning when a distress call was made to the Connaught Place police station. The caller, a female victim, reported a harrowing experience at the hotel's club, where she and her friends were allegedly attacked by bouncers. The police swiftly responded, arriving at the scene to gather evidence and record the victim's statement.

According to the victim's account, the ordeal began when a male patron of the club assaulted her and hurled abuses at her companions around 7:30 am. The situation escalated as the club's bouncers reportedly intervened, not to defuse the situation but to further assault the victim and her friends. Deputy Commissioner of Police New Delhi, Devesh Kumar Mahla, detailed the sequence of events and assured that an investigation was underway.

The police have initiated a thorough review of the club's CCTV footage as part of their investigation. Based on the victim's complaint, a case has been registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including voluntarily causing hurt (323), wrongful restraint (341), assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty (354), criminal intimidation (506), insulting the modesty of a woman (509), and common intention (34).

DCP Mahla emphasized that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness. A dedicated police team has been assigned to probe into the case, ensuring that all necessary medical examinations of the victim have been conducted promptly. He further stated that appropriate legal action would be taken against those found culpable, underscoring the commitment of law enforcement to uphold justice and safeguard citizens' rights.
