Woman kills toddler son; attempts suicide in Maharashtra

Thane, July 14: A 28-year-old woman killed her one-and-half year old son here before trying to end her and elder son's life, police said today.

According to Police PRO Sukhada Narkar, the incident took place on July 12 when the woman identified as Sampa Kamarkar killed the toddler (Ishaan) using a vegetable cutter and thereafter slit the throat of her 11-year-old son Chhagan before attempting suicide by cutting her wrist.

The woman and elder son are now hospitalised. The housewife, as per police, was apparently fed up with her prolonged illness which prompted her to take the extreme step.

She has been booked under under sections ,302,307 and 309 of IPC.
