Woman kills self after tiff with husband on attending function

, Feb 3: A 33-year-old woman allegedly committed

here today after her husband reportedly turned down her request that they attend her brother's house-warming function in Karaikal.

Police said the woman had tried in vain to persuade her husband, an official in a cooperative society here, to attend the function. On the other hand, the husband insisted that she accompany him to attend his relative's marriage here.

She refused to accompany him and their two children to attend the marriage function and stayed back and allegedly committed suicide by hanging, police said. When the man returned, he was shocked to see his wife hanging from the ceiling. He immediately took her to the government hospital where doctors declared her brought dead, sources said.

A case has been registered.
