Woman Succumbs to Injuries After Grenade Attack in Srinagar Market
A woman injured in a grenade attack at a well-known flea market earlier this month has died, according to officials. The attack on November 3 at the Sunday market near the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) resulted in injuries to twelve people. The 45-year-old victim, identified as Abida from Naidkhai in Bandipora district, succumbed to her injuries at SMHS Hospital.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah expressed their sorrow over Abida's passing. They extended condolences to her family and prayed for her soul's peace. An NC spokesperson mentioned their thoughts are with her three young children during this challenging time.
Condolences Pour In
Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi shared his condolences on X, stating, "My heartfelt condolences to the family of Late Abida who passed away today as result of the injuries she sustained in the terror attack a few days ago in Srinagar. May her soul rest in Paradise. My prayers for her three little kids."
PDP leader Iltija Mufti also took to X, highlighting the tragedy of Abida's death. She remarked that Abida Sumaya, a mother of three, is more than just a statistic. Her death serves as a harsh reminder of the ongoing cycle of violence that continues to claim innocent lives.
Political Leaders React
Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari expressed his sadness over Abida's death. He conveyed his deepest condolences to her grieving family and prayed for her soul's eternal peace. Similarly, Peoples Conference chief and Handwara MLA Sajad Lone offered his sympathies to Abida Sumaiya's family.
Lone stated, "My condolences to the family of Abida Sumaiya, who passed away after sustaining injuries in the TRC grenade attack. My thoughts are with the family who have to bear this irreparable loss. A mother of three children... May Allah grant them the courage to bear this loss. May Allah grant her Jannat."
Investigation and Arrests
The police have apprehended three individuals associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) who were involved in the grenade attack. The arrests are part of ongoing efforts to address terrorism-related activities in the region.
The tragic incident underscores the persistent threat of violence faced by civilians in conflict-prone areas. The community mourns the loss of Abida while hoping for peace and stability in the future.
