Woman detained for possessing ganja

Chennai, Mar 30: A 42-year-old woman was detained for questioning at the airport here for allegedly possessing 2.2 kg of ganja, officials said.

The Kuwait-bound Indian woman was detained after airport officials scrutinised CCTV footage and found that an abandoned bag with the contraband belonged to her, they said.

The woman confessed that the bag belonged to her when officials later confronted her, they said, adding she had abandoned the bag in check-in area.

The seizure was valued at around Rs two lakh. In another incident, a glass door gave way at the Domestic Departure area near a CISF enclosure where women passengers are frisked, officials said, adding, no one was injured.
