Woman along with infant twins sets herself on fire

, Jun 21: A 23-year-old woman and her infant twins died after she allegedly set herself ablaze along with them, police said today.

The incident took place last night in Shivli's Beri Sawai village here when the woman, Malti, set herself and her eight-months-old twin girls, Kanak and Mahima, on fire at their home, they said.

According to police, Malti's husband died last year in a car accident, and she was worried about the future of her children which drove her to take the extreme step.

Though the neighbours rushed to help them seeing fire billowing out of Malti's house but the trio died by the time they could be rescued, police said. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, police said, adding, a probe into the matter is on.
