Withdraw review petition on common medical entry test: AIADMK
New Delhi, Mar 10: AIADMK on Thursday demanded in Parliament that the Centre withdraw the review petition filed in the Supreme Court in connection with common entrance examination for medical admissions.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour in the Upper House, party leader A Navaneetha Krishnan said "our Chief Minister Amma has written a letter to the Prime Minister to withdraw the review petition pending before the Supreme Court.

"There is also a cabinet note by the central government contemplating introducing a common entrance exam for state quota of medical courses. We strongly oppose this move."
Before raising the issue, Krishnan and other AIADMK members had jumped into the Well to protest but the Chair stopped them and gave time to put forth their concern.
"We urge the Centre to withraw the review petition and not introduce the common entrace test for state quote of medical seats," Krishnan said.
To this, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Muktar Abbas Naqvi said, "I will convey the feeling and demands of the members to the concerned minister for appropriate action."
In the Lok Sabha, AIADMK member P Kumar too raised the issue amid support from his party colleagues. AIADMK has been insisting that the Centre's move to introduce the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for Medical Admissions is infringement upon the rights and authority of the state government.
It is also contending that the introduction of the test will be unilaterally favouring the urban students.
