With Rs 1,214 crore, Shivakumar's assets grew 68% from 2018

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President DK Shivakumar has declared assets worth Rs 1,214 crore in an affidavit filed along with his nomination for the May 10 assembly election in the state.

The total assets (movable and immovable) of Shivakumar and his family grew by 68 percent compared to his 2018 affidavit.

Going by his affidavit, DK Shivakumar has movable assets worth Rs 244 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 548 crores. He has disclosed his wife Usha's movable assets of Rs 153 crore and her immovable assets of Rs 113 crores.

A powerful Vokkaliga leader, Shivakumar is a seven-time legislator from the Kanakapura Assembly seat. He is eyeing the chief ministerial post if Congress manages to win the elections.

The Congress leader also revealed that he holds 12 bank accounts, some of which are jointly managed by his brother, DK Suresh. Liabilities in the form of loans from banks and financial institutions are over Rs 225 crore, according to his affidavit.

Interestingly, the Congress leader owns only one Toyota car worth Rs 8,30,000. According to the affidavit, DK Shivakumar's annual income is Rs 14.24 crore, while his wife earns Rs 1.9 crore.

The Kanakpura Congress candidate also declared assets for his three children. While Abhaarana and Aakash do not have high-value assets, Aishwarya has assets worth Rs 59 crore.

Shivakumar has also listed a total of 19 cases against him, which include tax evasion, and money laundering cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate, and the CBI.

He also disclosed that he has six cases filed against him by the state government under the Epidemic Control Act for violating the COVID-19 guidelines during the Mekedatu Padayatra.

In the 2018 election, DKS declared Rs 730 crores, which included the assets owned by his wife, Usha Shivakumar, as well.

Karnataka is gearing up for a single phase polls on May 10 and the results will be announced on May 13.
