With Nitish switching to NDA, will be back Naidu in VP elections?

The BJP would however not insist that Nitish back Naidu.

With Nitish Kumar switching sides and joining the NDA, the big question is who will he and his party back in the vice-Presidential polls. While Nitish had backed the NDA's Ram Nath Kovind in the Presidential polls, he had declared support to Gopalkrishna Gandhi for the VP polls.

While Nitish was at that time part of the UPA, it would be interesting to see whether he would back Gandhi or the NDA's Venkaiah Naidu in the VP elections. The JD(U) is however likely to back Gandhi. He had made an assurance that he would back the UPA's candidate and is likely to stick to his word. However there is nothing that stops Nitish from switching sides as in the VP polls no party can issue a whip.

The BJP would however not insist that Nitish back Naidu. The BJP and its allies are in a comfortable position to win the VP elections. BJP sources say that Nitish Kumar is free to take any decision and he would not be bound by what we want at least in these elections.
