Will Prime Minister Modi Attend Chandrayaan-3 Launch? Here's What ISRO Chief Says

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)'s lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 will be launched on July 14 from the space port at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.

Is Prime Minister Narendra Modi Attending Chandrayaan-3?

As of now, PM Modi or Prime Minister's Office has not confirmed his participation, but the ISRO has already sent an invitation, according to a report in India Today.

On asking whether the PM will make it to the event, ISRO Chief S Somnath said, "We invite everyone. It is left to them."

However, the Prime Minister had attended the launch of Chandrayaan-2 in 2019. More importantly, his gesture to hug the then ISRO Chief K Sivan after the space agency lost contact with the lander Vikram had won the hearts of Indians.

The ISRO chief broke down after the speech and in a video that has gone viral on social media, PM Modi was seen consoling him with a heartfelt hug.

Coming back to Chandrayaan-3, ISRO's new heavylift launch vehicle LVM-3 will carry out the Moon mission. 44

"Announcing the launch of Chandrayaan-3: LVM3-M4/Chandrayaan-3 Mission: The launch is now scheduled for July 14, 2023, at 2:35 pm IST from SDSC (Satish Dhawan Space Centre), Sriharikota," ISRO tweeted recently.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission carries scientific instruments to study the thermophysical properties of the lunar regolith, lunar seismicity, lunar surface plasma environment and elemental composition in the vicinity of the landing site.
