Anurag Sharma Commits to Accountability in Jhansi Hospital Fire Incident Affecting Newborns

Jhansi-Lalitpur BJP MP Anurag Sharma has vowed to ensure accountability for the fire at Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College. The blaze, which erupted in the neonatal ICU on Friday night, resulted in the deaths of 10 newborns, with two more succumbing during treatment. Sharma emphasised that no cover-up will be tolerated and those responsible will be held accountable.

No Cover-Up in Jhansi Hospital Fire Incident

Following a meeting with a government team investigating the incident, Sharma stated, "I had come to meet the government team here and told them that the strictest action should be taken on this incident. And if the people of the government or administration try to cover up, I have come to give a message to my people that Parliament session is about to start, I will not allow anything to be covered up."

Government Investigation Underway

The investigation into the tragic event is being led by a four-member government team headed by DG, Medical Education, Kinjal Singh. The team visited the medical college to determine the cause of the fire. Their findings are expected to shed light on what led to this unfortunate incident.

Sharma expressed his confidence in the medical professionals at the hospital, stating that doctors always strive to do their best for patients. He remarked, "I do not think it is right to raise allegations on a doctor. I stand with the families of the two children who died during treatment. My condolences are with them."

Parliamentary Action Considered

When questioned about accountability, Sharma assured that responsibility would be established promptly. He warned that if it isn't addressed adequately, he would bring up the matter in the upcoming parliamentary session. This reflects his commitment to ensuring justice for the affected families.

The incident has deeply affected Jhansi's community, marking a first in its history. Sharma acknowledged this sentiment by saying, "A big incident has happened. This is the first time in the history of Jhansi that something like this has happened... all of us are sad." His words resonate with many who are mourning this tragic loss.

The investigation continues as authorities work diligently to uncover what caused this devastating fire. The focus remains on ensuring such incidents do not recur and that justice is served for those who lost their lives.
