Bank Closures During Mahashivratri

Banks in 18 states will also close for Mahashivratri. These states include Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. The Spiritual Significance of Mahashivratri

Mahashivratri holds deep spiritual meaning for devotees who offer milk and flowers to the Shivling. The festival aligns with the year's darkest night when planetary alignments are believed to energise individuals. Many devotees fast and stay awake all night for prayer and meditation.

Stock Market Holidays in 2025

The Mahashivratri holiday is one of 14 market closures scheduled for 2025. Following this holiday are Holi on March 14 and Id-Ul-Fitr on March 31. April includes three holidays: Shri Mahavir Jayanti on April 10, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, and Good Friday on April 18.

Maharashtra Day on May 1 marks the last holiday in the first half of the year. Markets will also close for Independence Day on August 15 and Ganesh Chaturthi on August 27.

The final quarter of 2025 features closures for Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra on October 2. Diwali-related holidays occur from October 21-22 with Prakash Gurpurb following on November 5. The year concludes with a Christmas holiday closure on December 25.
