Will Go To Himalayas...: CEC Rajiv Kumar On Post-Retirement Plans During Delhi Polls 2025 Press Conference

Addressing a press conference to announce schedule for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar also shared his post-retirement plans. This was CEC Rajiv Kumar's last official dates announcement press conference. He is a former Indian Administrative Service officer and had assumed the chair as Chief Election Commissioner on 15 May 2022.

During his tenure of almost three years, Rajiv Kumar headed Lok Sabha Elections 2024, and elections for states like Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Haryana, and now it is time for Delhi Assembly Elections.

Replying to a question on his post-retirement plans, Rajiv Kumar said that he will detoxify himself for at least 4-5 months. On a lighter note, he added that he might go to the Himalayas for meditation away from public glare and chaos.

Before succeeding erstwhile CEC Sushil Chandra, Rajiv Kumar served as a finance secretary and worked closely on banking reforms. Freezing of 3.38 lakh shell companies' bank accounts was one of the major decisions made during Rajiv Kumar's tenure as finance secretary.

Today, ECE Rajiv Kumar again refuted all speculations about EVM malfunctioning and hacking.

Polling in Delhi will take place on February 5 and results for 70 Assembly seats will be announced on February 8, 2025, in a single phase.
