Will BJP-Led NDA Breach 400-Seat Mark In 2024 Elections? A Look At Matrize NC's Poll Predictions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his speech in the Parliament on Monday, announced that the NDA would get more than 400 seats in the next general elections and the BJP would secure 370 on its own.

"I can gauge the mood of the nation, it will give NDA more than 400 seats and the BJP at least 370 seats," the Prime Minister said replying to the debate in Lok Sabha on the Motion of Thanks on President's Address.

He said the third term of the government was not too far. "At the most 100-125 days are remaining," he said, referring to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. "Abki baar," Modi said, and BJP members joined him in unison to say "400 paar".

Can the NDA cross record 400 mark?
According to The Times Now-Matrize opinion poll, the BJP-led NDA would win 366 seats if the polls are held now. Whereas the INDIA bloc is predicted to bag 104 seats with others bagging 73 seats.

As far as the vote share is concerned, the NDA is predicted to get 41.8 per cent votes while the INDIA bloc is likely to get 28.6 per cent votes. Whereas other parties are predicted to get 29.6 per cent.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP-led NDA secured victory with a total of 353 seats. The BJP alone garnered 37.76 per cent of the votes, contributing to the NDA's combined vote share of 45 per cent out of the 603.7 million votes cast. Despite its longstanding presence, the Congress clinched only 52 seats, falling short of the requisite 10 per cent threshold to stake a claim for the Leader of the Opposition post. Furthermore, the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) clinched 91 seats, with the remaining 98 seats distributed among various other parties.

The survey paints a grim picture for the Congress across five pivotal states- Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand-along with the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Projections suggest a complete absence of seats for the grand old party.
