Will BJP Ally With JDS For 2024 Lok Sabha Polls?
In a major political development, BJP stalwart BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday announced that that his party and the JDS would join forces to challenge the ruling Congress party and its government.
During a media address, Yediyurappa said that the two parties will "fight together in future" and that Kumaraswamy's allegations of corruption against the Congress government are true.

In response to Yediyurappa's statement, Kumaraswamy said that an alliance between the BJP and the JDS is "probably" going to happen by the end of the year or after the next Lok Sabha elections.
Kumaraswamy had previously stated, "There is GST (Goods and Services Tax), and there is YST (Yathindra special tax)." He highlighted the existence of "syndicates" within KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) and sub-registrar's offices that engage in irregularities related to transfers. BJP MLA Basavanagounda Patil Yatnal also supported Kumaraswamy's allegations.
Following the considerable loss suffered by his party in the recent elections, Kumaraswamy has adopted an aggressive stance against the Congress, which emerged victorious in most of the JDS-held seats. With his party's diminishing influence, Kumaraswamy has indicated the possibility of aligning with the BJP.
His father and JDS patriarch, HD Deve Gowda, hinted at the JDS moving closer to the BJP when he attended the inauguration of the new Parliament House, an event boycotted by 19 non-BJP parties.
The announcement of the alliance comes at a time when the Congress is facing increasing criticism for its handling of the state government. Kumaraswamy has been particularly vocal in his criticism of the Congress, accusing it of corruption and misgovernance.
The BJP and the JDS have been bitter rivals in the past, but they have been drawn closer together in recent months by their shared opposition to the Congress. The two parties have also been working together in the BBMP and panchayat elections.
The announcement of the alliance is a major setback for the Congress, which is already facing a tough challenge from the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The alliance between the BJP and the JDS is likely to make it even more difficult for the Congress to win the elections.
The alliance is also significant because it shows that the BJP is willing to work with regional parties in order to achieve its political goals. The BJP has been criticised in the past for its "top-down" approach to politics, but the alliance with the JDS shows that the party is willing to adapt to the changing political landscape.
