Taslima Nasreen
Kolkata, Feb 24: Anna Hazare last week said that the country needs a "simple and honest PM" like Mamata Banerjee and he would be happy to see her lead up there.

But, not all like him would be happy. Taslima Nasreen, the controversial author from Bangladesh said that she would be "thrown out of India, if she (Mamata) became the PM".

Alleging that she was saving her minority vote banks, Nasreen said that the Trinamool Congress leader and the chief minister of West Bengal had ordered banning her books and serial adoptions from her stories in the state.

In December 2013, Banerjee had postponed the broadcast of a TV serial scripted by her. At that time, the chairman of All India TMC minority cell, Idris Ali, said,"She (Taslima) is a communal force whose work can hurt sentiments of the minority community here and spark a riot." [Read]

In fact, Syed Md Nurur Rahman Barkati, Shahi Imam of Tipu Sultan Masjid, convinced the editor of the channel not to air the serial as it may spark communal violence.
