Lok Sabha Elections 2024 To Be Preponed? Here's What Nitish Kumar Thinks
Days after his big claim that the Lok Sabha elections may be preponed, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has revealed the reason behind his prediction.
The Janata Dal (United) chief claimed that the ruling BJP can opt for early LS polls to curtail the spread and strength of a united opposition.

"The central government has the majority and can obviously prepone the Lok Sabha elections. They (BJP) might think that the opposition unity may affect them in the coming time, so it can get the (Lok Sabha) polls preponed," Nitish Kumar told reporters.
Nitish Kumar further clarified he wasn't predicting the 2014 Lok Sabha polls to happen early, but merely suggesting the possibility of early elections.
"I have been told pending works will be complete by January, 2024. I would say, try completing these before that. You never know when elections may be announced, Nitish told reporters earlier this week.
"Elections may not necessarily take place next year. These could be held earlier," he added, as per PTI.
Nitish Kumar's efforts to forge opposition unity have resulted in leaders opposed to the BJP agreeing to visit Patna next week and chalk out a common strategy.
The meeting was earlier scheduled to be held on June 12, but was put off after some of the parties, including the Congress and the DMK, requested a change in date.
Nitish Kumar had said he was opposed to parties sending any leader except their respective heads to the meeting where the anti-BJP players will chalk out a strategy for the Lok Sabha polls next year.
Opposition meet will include Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and DMK head MK Stalin.
