Why is 'Hinduphobic Swiggy' trending on Twitter
A section of our intellectuals have developed a habit to attack Hindu festivals on one alibi or other, sparing the same of other religions.
Swiggy, an online food ordering and delivery platform, has come under attack from netizens for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Hindus.
Why are Hindus upset?
The angry Hindus are now attacking the company using the hashtag - #HinduPhobicSwiggy. It all started after Swiggy Instamart shared a video with a message asking people not to use eggs for the Holi celebration.

People often use eggs to smash them on someone's head and the delivery platform was trying to convey not to waste eatables. However, this did not go well with the Hindus who slammed Swiggy, asking it not to give advice on Hindu festivals. Also, many netizens complained that the company has installed a controversial billboard with the same message.
"Hey @Swiggy, giving Gyan on Holi & trying to set a wrong perception by installing controversial billboards and posting reel, is not cool in any terms. Apologize to Hindus & remove them. #HinduPhobicSwiggy," an angry Twitter user said.
Another user said, "By promoting a controversial billboard and reel, #HinduPhobicSwiggy has hurt the sentiments of millions of people. We urge @Swiggy to apologize and remove them immediately, Or face consequences."
"Dear **M|F** @Swiggy, your actions are hurtful & divisive. Who gave u the permission to give Gyan on my Holi? You must apologize and take steps to promote cultural understanding and inclusivity, OR face consequences. #HinduPhobicSwiggy," the third user tweeted demanding an apology from the company.
Expressing his anguish, a netizen said, "Can't believe @Swiggy would stoop so low as to defame Holi in this way. Company must issue a public apology and remove the offensive content ASAP. #HinduPhobicSwiggy 's attempt to defame Holi through their controversial billboard and reel is unacceptable. We urge @Swiggy to apologize and remove them immediately."
Yet another user said that it was unacceptable, and wrote, "It is unacceptable that @Swiggy is spreading negative stereotypes and defaming Holi. Remove the billboard, reel and issue a sincere apology, OR lose me as a daily customer. That's it. I won't tolerate anything wrong about my festival
#HinduPhobicSwiggy. [sic]"
Hindu festivals or rituals are often showcased in a negative light by a section of the intellectuals. Especially during Diwali, environmentalists and liberals urge people not to burst crackers claiming that it increases the concentration of dust and pollutants in the air.
Liberals have also targeted Karwa Chauth in the past saying it promotes a patriarchal tradition. However, the same set of people never question the rituals and festivals in other religions.
