Why did Gurdaspur attackers shave their chests

GUrdaspur, Aug 14: What does a terrorist with a shaven chest indicate? A report of the Border Security Force submitted to the Punjab police in connection with the Gurdaspur attack suggests that the chest of the terrorists was shaven and this points to the fact that they were Jihadis.

It is a normal procedure adopted by Jihadis where they shave their chest before launching a Fidayeen attack. The investigations into the Gurdaspur attack is still underway and all proof gathered by the investigating agencies till now suggest that the attackers were from Pakistan.

Unlike the Udhampur attack case, in Gurdaspur the security forces were unable to capture any of the terrorists alive.

Shaven chests:

In a report submitted by the BSF to the Punjab police it states that the chests of the terrorists was shaven. Explaining this officials say that this is a routine that is undertaken normally by Jihadis before they launch a Fidayeen strike. It has been witnessed in other cases as well.

After the training programme in their camps, there is a day long ritual which involves praying. One part of the final ritual involves shaving off their chest, an officer informed. The same was found in the case of the Gurdaspur attackers as well.

Route still unclear:

As opposed to the earlier claim that the terrorists could have come in through the Ravi river, investigations now show that they may not have used that route. There is a lurking doubt on whether the terrorists changed the positions on the GPS after reaching Gurdaspur in a bid to fool investigators.

Investigators found that the bags or the shoes of the terrorists were not dirty and this shows that they may have not crossed the river. However, the other angle that is being probed is that the terrorists may have crossed over a couple of days back and then waited for someone to hand over the ammunition to them.

What we can say now is that these terrorists are indeed from Pakistan. We are ascertaining whether there was some local help involved in this incident. The terrorists may have crossed over a couple of days before the attack and waited for the local man to hand over the supplies to them.
