Why Did 7-Member Dehradun Family Die By Suicide In Haryana's Panchkula?

In a tragic incident, seven members of a family from Uttarakhand's Dehradun died by suicide in Panchkula in Haryana on Monday. They consumed poison, apparently due to financial troubles, in a car.

The family had arrived at Dehradun to attend a religious event. The deceased are identified as 42-year-old Praveen Mittal, his wife, their three children, and an elderly couple.

The cops have recovered a two-page suicide note in which it has been claimed that they have decided to end their lives as they had gone bankrupt.

Six people were declared brought dead on arrival at the hospital. One among the seven had sat outside his car and reportedly told local residents that they were "drowning in debt". He later succumbed in the hospital.

"I will die in five minutes as I have also consumed poison," the deceased told Puneet Rana, a local resident. As the locals grew suspicious, they alerted the cops.

"The incident happened near our house. Someone told us that a car was parked outside with a towel on it. When we asked, they told us they had come for Baba's program and couldn't find a hotel. So they were sleeping in the car. We told them to move the car and park it elsewhere. After that, we noticed that they had vomited on each other. We pulled him out of the car," India Today quoted Puneet as telling reporters.

The consumed the poison Hyundai Aura car in Haryana's Sector 27.

"Upon initial probe, it seemed like a case of suicide. The forensic team has reached the spot. We will collect all the evidence from the crime scene and analyse it scientifically," senior police official Himadri Kaushik stated.

All the bodies have been sent for autopsy to a private hospital in Panchkula.
